Railway Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav got  regular bail in the Disproportionate Assests case, an offshoot of the multi-crore fodder scam, from the Patna High Court on Monday. It is seen as a major relief to Lalu, who had been on provisional bail in this case.

In this case Lalu and his wife, former chief minister Rabri Devi, who is currently leader of Oposition in the state Asembly have been charged with amassing assets of Rs 46 lakhs between 1991 and 1997.

Lalu and Rabri had challenged the prosecution sanction on the grounds that the Governor could act only on the Cabinet's recommendations, which was not the case in this instance.
