India on Monday made a donation of $2 million to the Indira Gandhi Hospital for Children in Kabul.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's wife Gursharan Kaur announced this on a visit to the hospital. The aid is to provide modern healthcare facilities for children at the neo-natal care unit.

The hospital, which was damaged during the war, is being reconstructed by India.

There are various teams of Indian doctors and paramedics working in 13 hospitals in Kabul. Smaller teams are also working in hospitals in Mazar-I-Sharif, Herat, Kandahar and Shebargan.

Besides this, India has trained 12 Afghan doctors and paramedics at All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi.
