Two policemen were killed and two others were seriously injured after naxals of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) blasted a police station in Bihar's Nalanda district on Friday.

District police officials said that nearly 100 armed naxalites attacked the Chabilapur police station in the wee hours on Friday. They blew up the old as well as the new buildings of the police station using dynamite.

Naxalites also looted 7 rifles and over 250 cartridges from the policemen.

"When they blasted the police station, some policemen were asleep," officials added. While one of the victims was a hawaldar, the other was a constable. The injured have been admitted to the Sadar hospital in a serious condition.

Senior police officials from Patna rushed to theĀ  site of the blast and forces were deployed.

In another case, naxalites threatened to blast the Vishrampur village in Rohtas district if villagers failed to apologise to them. The threat has triggered panic among the villagers and they have formed a village level armed front to face the attack.

Bihar Director General of Police Ashish Ranjan Sinha said adequate force had been deployed in the village in the wake of the naxals threat.
