In a fresh but veiled salvo after his demand for L K Advani's resignation as Bharatiya Janata Party president and leader of the Opposition, Delhi BJP strongman Madan Lal Khurana today said those who do politics sitting in air conditioned rooms would bite the dust at the elections.

"We should understand people's problems. You should do politics by going to the people and not by sitting in air-conditioned rooms. Only then will you win people's confidence," he said recalling that he had never been defeated in any election other than in 1984 when there was a sympathy wave for Congress in the aftermath of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's assassination.

Khurana, however, did not refer to any particular leader for the BJP's debacle in last year's Lok Sabha polls. The former Rajasthan governor was speaking at the centenary celebrations of Delhi Jan Sangh leader Ramkrishna Bharadwaj.

Khurana said he learnt this lesson from the late Bharadwaj, who never lost an election.

BJP Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha V K Malhotra, Delhi BJP chief Harsh Vardhan and Delhi Rashtriya Swyamsevak Sangh chief Satyanarayan Bansal were also present.

He advised the younger generation in the Sangh Parivar that only by remaining among the people did they stand a chance of winning elections.
