Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Tuesday demanded the dismissal of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav for making "false allegations" against the Bharatiya Janata Party and Sangh Parivar in connection with an alleged attack on him in Gujarat.
Vajpayee was speaking to reporters after a meeting of BJP Parliamentary Party in New Delhi.
Lalu had alleged that his car was pelted with stones when he went to inspect the site of last week's train accident in Vadodara district of Gujarat. Lalu had accused Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi of orchestrating the attack.
Vajpayee said Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil did not make a statement in Parliament on the matter on Monday because there was "no ground or basis" for it and "there was no evidence" to support Lalu's charges against the Sangh Parivar.
Vajpayee also demanded that Lalu's remarks on the Sangh Parivar be expunged from Parliament's records.
