The Pakistani media on Monday welcomed President Pervez Musharraf's three-day visit to India as a major movement forward on Kashmir and other contentious issues.

The media highlighted the positive vibes between Musharraf and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.

'Musharraf satisfied with talks' said The Dawn daily, 'Musharraf and Manmohan push forward peace process' said The Daily Times and 'Delhi talks move forward' said The News.

The reports stressed on the changed atmosphere in the relations of the two neighbours.

Musharraf's visit to India was a major television event with most Pakistani channels, including the state-run PTV, providing round-the-clock coverage over the weekend with live footage from Indian television channels and backed by prolonged commentaries by strategic analysts.

"Look at the way the smiling Singh shook hands with Musharraf after the joint statement was issued, that tells you the story," said a PTV correspondent, who was a part of the 40-member media delegation accompanying the Pakistani leader.

"Tangible forward movement took place on all issues including the core issue of Kashmir in talks with India leaders," said a lead report in the popular The News.
