PM meets Vajpayee ahead of Indo-Pak talks

Ahead of the crucial Indo-Pak talks, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday had a breakfast meeting with his predecessor Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Vajpayee went to the prime minister's 7, Race Course Road residence in Delhi for discussions ahead of the talks between External Affairs Minister K Natwar and his Pakistani counterpart Khurshid M Kasuri, beginning September 5, a PMO spokesman said.

Natwar Singh and his predecessor and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Yashwant Sinha were also present at the meeting, which lasted for over an hour.

In a bid to evolve political consensus before the bilateral talks, the United Progressive Alliance government has begun discussions with opposition leaders as part of which Natwar Singh had met Leader of Opposition L K Advani on Thursday.
