Dreams of a new India

October 21, 2004

Dreams float on an impatient wind
A wind that wants to create a new order...
-- A P J Abdul Kalam

President Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam turned 73 on Friday, October 15.

As a child in Rameswaram, it is said he watched the flight of birds and decided that he too wanted to soar and touch the skies.

Against all odds, he studied hard and became one of India's leading scientists, the leader of the nation's missile programme, and in July 2002, its first citizen.

The President has always dreamt of transforming India into a superpower by 2020.

On his birthday, we invite your suggestions on how to realise his dream of making our nation truly great.

We will send the best responses to Rashtrapati Bhavan.
