Barely has the dust over Gudia's return to her first husband -- armyman Arif -- settled, a similar case has been unearthed in Uttar Pradesh.

This time around it is a Hindu woman whose first husband suddenly appeared on the scene after a full seven years.

The woman, Sadapyari, had remarried two years after her first marriage to Mewalal, who had left for Delhi to earn a living barely a couple of months after his marriage, went missing and was later presumed dead.

All this while Mewalal was languishing in a Delhi jail without even his family knowing about it.

When Mewalal reappeared on the scene, Sadapyari was living happily with her second husband Lakhan. She also had three children from her marriage to Lakhan.

But the old bonds proved strong enough to bring Sadapyari and Mewalal together again. On hearing the news of his return Sadapyari left for Mewalal's village Peng .

The couple saw each other at her aunt's house and within no time Sadapyari took the decision of returning to Mewalal.

All this came to light when the couple approached the district court  to get their marriage registered, police sources said.

As usual the court asked for a police verification and a police team arrived at Peng following which the whole case became public.

Legal wrangles notwithstanding, the panchayat did not intervene. Lakhan, the second husband, though "crestfallen" over the sudden development has no objection to Sadapyari's decision.

"I have no objection if Sadapyari decides to live with Mewalal," he said on being approached. The police also said they have not received any complaint from Lakhan.

Sadapyari has also taken along her youngest son, who would be living with her with the consent of Mewalal. "I am not bothered as to what happened when I was away. I am more than satisfied just to get my wife back," an elated Mewalal said.

Mewalal, who had left his village for Delhi in 1997, was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment in connection with a case. Sadapyari was married to Lakhan when all attempts to trace Mewalal in Delhi proved futile and it was presumed that he was dead, said his mother.

Though Lakhan has no objection to Sadapyari's return, the couple does not want to leave anything to chance and hence want to give their marriage a legal shape. The police is expected to file its verification report to the district court soon, police sources said.
