SR to ply special trains during festive season

The Southern Railway will run special trains between Chennai Central and Thiruvananthapuram on four days a week to clear extra traffic during the Sabarimala, Christmas and New Year seasons in November, December and January.

The Thiruvananthapuram-bound train will leave Chennai at 2115 IST on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday and Fridays and reach the Kerala capital at 1630 IST the next day.

The train to Chennai will leave Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 1930 IST and reach the next day at 1230 IST, a railway release said in Coimbatore on Monday.

Special trains between Chennai and Coimbatore to clear extra rush on the eve of Deepavali will be run on November 9 and 10 from Chennai Central at 2045 IST and November 12 and 14 from Coimbatore at 2325 IST, the release added.
