Don't hype up peace process: Khokhar

Pakistan Foreign Secretary  Riaz Khokhar on Monday said he had a good and positive two rounds of talks with Indian officials but at the same time cautioned that there should not be any hype about the current peace process.

Addressing the media after returning here from New Delhi, Khokhar said, "I have no hesitation in saying that it is  a good beginning. But let us not get involved in hype... avoid  hype and avoid building high expectations. It is a beginning of a process."

During today's round of talks, discussions were  focussed on Jammu and Kashmir issue. The two countries
discussed their stated positions. "But we agreed to engage in  a sustained manner to find a solution to the Jammu and Kashmir issue," he said.

He explained the various CBMs that have been agreed to by the two countries including extension of staff strength to previous position of 110 in respective High Commissions, agreement of opening consulates in Karachi and Mumbai and finalisation of schedule of talks on seven other issues, which form part of the composite dialogue process.

Khokhar said he found the Indian leadership "serious",  "constructive" and "determined" to move forward on the composite dialogue process.
