The two Houses, which met at 1400 hours after the first adjournment, were adjourned for the day just a few minutes later.

Speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal.

In the din in of both Houses, Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee made a statement on the use of air power in the Kargil conflict.

The Rajya Sabha was adjourned within minutes of assembling for the day till 1400 IST. The protest in the Lok Sabha started soon after Atwal's election.
