Many parties have left the National Democratic Alliance and the Shiv Sena is one of the few that remains in it, Sena chief Bal Thackeray said on Thursday.

"Where is the NDA? The moment the NDA government came down, most of the allies moved out of the partnership," he said after releasing Speaker's Diary, written by former Lok Sabha speaker Manohar Joshi in Mumbai.

Asked whether the NDA should be dismantled, Thackeray replied in the negative.

Replying to a query, he said his party had put up a candidate to the post of Rajya Sabha deputy chairman because the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA had not consulted the Shiv Sena while announcing its support to the Congress candidate.

"We want to condemn the BJP-led NDA's move to support a Congress candidate without consulting the Sena. We should have been consulted," Thackeray said.
