PM on aerial survey of flood-hit Bihar

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, on his arrival in Patna, left for an aerial survey of the flood-hit Darbhanga, Begusarai, Khagaria and Samastipur districts in north Bihar.

He was accompanied by Chief Minister Rabri Devi, Union ministers Lalu Prasad Yadav, Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, Ram Vilas Paswan and Meira Kumar.

The chief minister is expected to seek Rs 7,200 crore from the Centre for relief and rehabilitation work.

The prime minister will have a separate meeting with representatives of various political parties to discuss the havoc caused by the floods.

Singh's five-hour stay in Bihar is his first visit to the state after becoming the prime minister.
