Promising a waiver of bank loans and free electricity to farmers, the Shiv Sena has said that if the Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party alliance were voted to power then development would form the core of its agenda.

Addressing a rally of farmers in Jalgaon on Sunday, Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray urged the people to 'toss out' the Congress-led Democratic Front government for neglecting the cause of farmers.

Former Lok Sabha speaker and Manohar Joshi demanded Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde's resignation owning moral responsibility for farmers committing suicide in the Vidarbha region.

Nearly 1,200 farmers had committed suicide during the last three years only because they could not repay the loans taken from different financial institutions for their farm cultivation, he alleged.

Leader of the opposition in the state assembly Narayan Rane was also present on the occasion.
