Alert: Diploma in railway engineering

The Institution of Permanent Way Engineers, India, invites applications for admission to the following correspondence course (recognised by the ministry of railways), leading towards excellent career opportunities in the Railways.

Diploma in Railway Engineering (Admission notice for the year 2004-05, eighth batch)

The course comprises of two semesters of six months each plus time required for finalisation of the results.

Some of the salient features of the course are given below:

Eligibility
For railway personnel including employees of Indian Railways, Konkan Railway, Port Trust Railways, RITES, IRCON, CRIS, DMRC and other Railway PSUs: High school / SSC or an equivalent qualification with maths or science and having a minimum of three years experience in the Railways
OR
A three-year diploma in any engineering discipline recognised by the central / state or union territory government
OR
A science graduate or graduate with science / maths as one of the subjects in the intermediate / plus 2 year of the SSC board format.

Non-railway persons: The applicants should have a three-year diploma in any discipline of engineering recognised by the central / state or UT government or a science / engineering graduate or a graduate with maths / science as one of the subjects in the intermediate / plus 2 of the SSC board.

Recognition and concessions
The ministry of railways has recognised the diploma course and granted the following concessions/benefits:

For railway personnel: The ministry of railways has approved the diploma course as an additional qualification for promotion to all selection posts for Railway employees in the Group C category of engineering and other departments.

For non-railway persons: The ministry of railways accepts the diploma as a desirable additional qualification for recruitment to various posts through the Railway Recruitment Board in the Railway's technical departments.

How to apply
The prospectus containing the application form and other details can be obtained from the office of IPWE (India) on payment through a bank draft of Rs 75 in favour of IPWE (India) payable at New Delhi along with a self-addressed stamped (Rs 15) size 25 cm x 15 cm envelope. Payments are also acceptable in cash at our counter in our corporate office.

The last date for the receipt of the completed application form is July 31.
