40 feared dead in Bihar boat mishap

At least 40 people were feared drowned when a boat capsized in flood-hit Sitamarhi district of Bihar on Thursday.

The boat carrying 50 people capsized at Rampura near Muzaffarpur. Only 10 managed to swim to safety.

The district magistrate of Muzaffarpur confirmed the mishap, but said it will take some time before he gets details.

This is the fourth boat capsize incident reported in the state in the last three days. The earlier three incidents, which claimed over a dozen lives, took place in Samastipur, Darbhanga and Madhubani districts.
