Answering
a question in the Lok Sabha, Water Resources Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is in touch with Bihar Chief Ministers Rabri Devi and her Assam counterpart Tarun Gogoi.

The minister said the central government will extend the two states all possible help to tide over the crisis.

Talking of long-term solutions to the recurring problem of floods in the two states, Dasmunsi said a detailed project report is being prepared for a dam over the river Kosi, which emanated from Nepal.

The plan will be sent to the Planning Commission for approval shortly.

Dasmunsi said the government will also hold talks with Kathmandu on the construction of dams in Nepal over the Kamla and Bagmati rivers, which flood northern Bihar planes every year.

He assured that Bihar will get the additional relief material it has sought.
