Sounding the bugle for the coming assembly elections in Maharashtra, the Shiv Sena on Saturday asserted that 'aggressive Hindutva' would be its plank.

The Sena has always adopted a strong stance over Hindutva and it would continue to do so in the future as well, senior Sena leader and former Lok Sabha speaker Manohar Joshi told reporters at the end of the opening day of the two-day conclave of Sena office-bearers being held in Aurangabad.

Earlier in the day, in view of the dissent shown by some Sena office-bearers over appointments in the organisation, the party's executive president Uddhav Thackeray warned that any sort of rebellion over distribution of assembly tickets would not be tolerated.

Addressing the concluding session of the opening day, Uddhav announced an inquiry into the 'role' of legislators and office-bearers during the recent Lok Sabha polls in the context of the party's reversal in some seats.

Exhorting partymen to adopt an aggressive stance for the assembly polls, slated for September-October, Uddhav asked them to highlight the 'failure of the Democratic Front government on all the fronts'.

The Sena would oppose the United Progressive Alliance government's plans of reservation in jobs for the minority community.

He criticised Congress, Nationalist Congress Party and Samajwadi Party leaders for extending support to the Mumbra-based girl, Ishrat Jahan Shaikh, who was killed in Ahmedabad along with three suspected members of the Lashkar-e-Tayiba.
