A Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) will launch the Rs 380 crore Chandrayan to the moon in 2006-07, Indian Space Research Organisation chairman G Madhavan Nair said on Tuesday.
Chandrayan's operations will be controlled by robots and cover 3.50 lakh kilometre within a period of two years, Nair said, after inaugurating the four-day XIII National Space Science Symposium -- 2004.
"We should go for exploring the moon not by person but with an instrument, which will help to collect tremendous data to the scientific community," he said.

Under the original agreement, signed two years ago, France was to build the satellite and ISRO was to launch it, Nair said. Now instead of France supplying the satellite ISRO will provide it, he added.
A French delegation will visit ISRO next month to finalise the details, he said.
