38 killed in Nepal clashes

Clashes between Maoist rebels and security forces claimed 38 lives on Thursday, according to sources.

Twenty-two Maoists and two security personnel were killed in a clash in Lamidamar area of Arghakhachi district, the sources said on Friday.

The state media reported that 50 Maoists were also injured in the clash. Their comrades called them away.

In another encounter, four Maoists and five security personnel were killed on the border between Bardia and Kailali districts, the sources said. Five villagers who were caught in the crossfire also died.
