Angry and abusive exchanges between Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and a Janata Dal (U) member over the former's spat with his Cabinet colleague Ram Vilas Paswan forced adjournment of Lok Sabha for 30 minutes on Thursday.
Soon after the Question Hour, Bharatiya Janata Party and other National Democratic Alliance members were on their feet demanding an explanation from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the spat, which they said was "very serious".
As Paswan rose to make a personal clarification, NDA members shouted that nothing short of the prime minister's clarification would satisfy them.
They said that the railway minister had misled the House saying that he had never levelled any charges against Paswan.
BJP deputy leader V K Malhotra said all TV channels and newspapers had on Wednesday carried the allegations made by Prasad against Paswan even though the railway minister denied it.
In the midst of uproar and shouts and counter shouts, Paswan too stated that he had made allegations against the RJD government in Bihar, but he had never made any personal charges.
The Lalu-Paswan spat also rocked the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.
An unrelenting Opposition sought an immediate response from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the issue leading to adjournment of the House 35 minutes ahead of the lunch recess.
