Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti has said she will hand over her resignation to Governor Balram Jhakar on Monday.

She said she spoke to Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Lal Kishenchand Advani, on Sunday and requested him to elect a new leader in her place.

The CM, against whom a Hubli court has issued a non-bailable warrant in connection with a 10-year-old rioting case, on Saturday sent her resignation to Bharatiya Janata Party president M Venkaiah Naidu.

The latest statement came after Karnataka Director General of Police S N Borkar said that a team was being sent to Madhya Pradesh to arrest Bharti.

"The team is headed by Superintendent of Police D Rupa. Two inspectors and a woman sub-inspector are its other members," he said in Bangalore.

The court had declared Bharti a proclaimed offender, Borkar said.

The DGP said the team would leave for Bhopal at the earliest.

Earlier on Sunday, twenty-four ministers in Madhya Pradesh sent their resignations to state BJP chief Kailash Joshi.

"It becomes our moral responsibility and duty to step down following the resignation of the chief minister," Agriculture and Cooperative Minister Gopal Bhargava said.

The resignations were aimed at expressing complete solidarity with Bharti ahead of the BJP parliamentary board meeting in New Delhi on Monday to consider her resignation, he said.

The remaining 11 ministers will also resign soon, he said.
