Charge sheet filed against suspended ACP

September 17, 2003 18:02 IST

The Uttaranchal police has filed a charge sheet against suspended Additional Commissioner of Delhi Police R K Sharma for allegedly raping his servant's wife in August last year.

The charge sheet, which was filed in a district court in Dehra Dun on Tuesday by the district counsel on behalf of the police, has reportedly been corroborated by a medical report.

District Counsel Jagdish Saklani said the report confirmed that Sharma had raped his servant's wife on August 22 last year at his house in the Malsi Deer Park locality in Dehra Dun.

He told District Judge B C Kandpal that the accused had raped the woman at gunpoint. When the police came to know about it, Sharma was taken into custody.

Saklani also presented before the court the victim's statement and offered to produce at least 16 witnesses to prove Sharma committed the crime.

The judge ordered the prosecution to record the statements of witnesses on October eight and nine.
