Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, whose official residence in Srinagar came under attack by militants on Friday morning, said his government is committed to peace.

Speaking to reporters in Aligarh, where he is on a visit, the Mufti said desperate attacks by militants will not shake his government's resolve to take the state forward on the road to normalcy.

"Such attacks are only aimed at derailing the peace process," Sayeed said.

Asked if he sees Pakistan's involvement in the attack, the chief minister said: "This is obvious. Those coming from Pakistan are not able to digest peace in the state."

He said militants are frustrated as local support to their activities is dwindling. "With the changed international scenario, terrorism is getting defeated everywhere. Gun is no solution," he said.
