Naidu to be shifted to Hyderabad on Thursday

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who was injured in a landmine blast triggered by Naxalites near Tirupati on Wednesday evening, will be shifted to Hyderabad on Thursday.

Of the four others injured in the blast, Telugu Desam Party MLA R Rajasekhar Reddy continues to  be serious, while IT Minister B Gopalakrishna Reddy, legislator Ch Krishnamurthy and car driver Raju are out of danger, director of Sri Venkateshwara Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr G Subrahmanyam, told reporters.

Naidu has suffered a collar bone fracture and injuries on his chest and nose, he said.

A five-member panel of doctors has been constituted to monitor the condition of the injured, Dr Subrahmanyam said.

Meanwhile, a five-member team of doctors from the Apollo Hospitals in Chennai on Wednesday night left by air to Tirupati to assist in the treatment. The doctors, including neurosurgeon Dr P K Reddy and trauma care specialist Dr Bhaskaran, left by a helicopter, sources at the Meenambakkam airport said. They will land in Renigunta and proceed to Tirupati by road.
