An army major was on Tuesday night killed in an ambush by militants in Dharhal area of Rajouri district, police sources said in Jammu on Wednesday.
Acting on a tip off, Major A K Dubey, along with some jawans, led a patrol party
to a forest area in Kamaran Gali in Dharhal, the sources said adding militants, who had taken vantage positions, opened fire killing the army officer.
The militants took one rifle along with a magazine and two wireless sets from the army officer before fleeing, they said.
