The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on Thursday endorsed the government's latest initiative to break the Indo-Pak logjam but said Islamabad should make its intentions clear through actions on the ground.

"We welcome the government's policy of improving relations with neighbours but the latter too must make their intentions clear through actions," RSS joint general secretary Madan Das Devi told reporters on the sidelines of the Sangh Parivar's coordination meeting with BJP top brass in Delhi.

"An atmosphere of friendship is in the interest of both countries," he said adding he hoped for an 'attitudinal change' on Pakistan's side this time.

Asked whether the government had made the offer of friendship under pressure from the US, he said, "We are part of the international community which wants good neighbourly relations."

In an interview with PTI, VHP leader Pravin Togadia, who is attending the meeting, had on Wednesday opposed resumption of normal ties with Pakistan saying any such move on the BJP-led government's part would suggest a 'weakness' in its commitment to safeguard national security.

The post-lunch session of the meeting also discussed the issues of national security and external and internal threats.
