Jaish, Harkat change names: Report

The Jaish-e-Mohammed and the Harkat-ul-Ansar, two of the terrorist groups that are active in Jammu and Kashmir, have renamed themselves Khaddam-ul-Islam and Jamiat-ul-Ansar respectively.

According Khabren, an Urdu daily in Pakistan, both outfits have resumed preaching and organisational work.

The report said that at the central level, Maulana Farooq Kashmiri and Fazlur Rehman Khalil would continue to remain as chief and secretary general of the Jamiat-ul-Ansar.

Maulana Masood Azhar's role in the Khaddam-ul-Islam has been confined to consultations.

Maulana Abdullah Shah Mazhar, a Karachi-based cleric, will take over from Masood Azhar as chief of new JeM outfit.

Maulana Abdul Raof, younger brother of Masood Azhar, will assist him, the newspaper reported.
