Over 800 vehicles, including 178 buses and taxis, were stranded on the Jammu-Srinagar highway on Monday morning after the road got blocked due to landslides triggered by heavy snowfall and rain since Saturday, official sources said.

Most of the landslides occured between Patnitop and Banihal.

One to two feet of snow had accumulated at Jawahar Tunnel and Patnitop, the sources said, adding that the Border Roads Organisation had deployed its men and machines to clear the highway.
