Army Chief General N C Vij on Sunday held a meeting with senior officials in Jammu on the security around army establishments in Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of Saturday's suicide attack by militants on the Saujiwan army camp, which left 13 personnel dead and seven injured.

General Vij, who arrived in Jammu in the morning from New Delhi, drove straight to Saujiwan and was briefed by the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (Northern Command) Lt Gen Hari Prashad and General Officer Commanding (16 Corps) Lt Gen T P S Brar, official sources said.

Gen Vij reviewed the security set up of army installations in the state and called for immediate fortification of all of them, senior army officials, the sources said.

There are 27 army camps in J&K with just barbed wire fencing around them instead of brick walls, the sources said.

Later, Gen Vij visited the army hospital and met the injured personnel.

Union Minister of State for Home Harin Pathak also visited the military station and later said though a little known militant outfit Al Nasreen has claimed responsibility for the attack, indications were that it was carried out by the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Tayiba.

Meanwhile, the bodies of two army jawans, who died in the attack, were cremated with full military honours in their native villages in Himachal Pradesh.

The mortal remains of Swarup Lal (24), resident of Kharar village under Jawali sub-division, and Ajay Jamwal (23), resident of Masot village of Dehra sub-division, had been brought to their native places on Sunday.
