Ramjanmabhoomi trust chief Mahant Ramchandra Paramhans on Sunday said he will not accept any formula proposed by any religious or political leader that does not provide for the construction of a temple at the place where Lord Ram was born.

"We want only a Ram Temple at Ayodhya... we will not allow anyone to indulge in politics on the issue of Ram Temple," said the mahant, who is convalescing at a hospital in Lucknow after a heart attack.

Hindu and Muslim religious leaders were free to air their views on the issue and can even exchange any formula they like, he said. "But tell me, what should you expect at the place where Lord Ram was born? Of course a Ram Temple."

Revenue records and the historical evidence prove that Lord Ram was born in the Ram Janmabhoomi area, he claimed.

The Ram Janmabhoomi Trust chief, however, rejected having a temple and a mosque constructed side-by-side as reportedly proposed by the Shankaracharya in a letter to the All India Muslim Personal Law Board.

"It is sacrilegious to think of construction of a mosque at the birth place of Lord Ram," he said.

Meanwhile, Kanchi Shankaracharya Sri Jayendra Saraswati is hopeful of a solution to the Ayodhya issue after the July 6 meeting of the All-India Muslim Personal Law Board.

He said this after talks with Finance Minister Jaswant Singh and Defence Minister George Fernandes.

Singh and Fernandes denied discussing the Ayodhya dispute. Singh said meeting the Swamiji gave mental satisfaction, hence the visit.
