Well-known Shia cleric and vice-president of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board Maulana Kalbe Sadiq on Sunday withdrew his resignation from the 11–member Babri Masjid Action Committee constituted by the AIMPLB to look into all matters related to Ayodhya dispute.

Sadiq had stepped down in February reportedly following differences with other members.

The decision to revoke his resignation followed his meeting on Sunday with AIMPLB president Maulana Rabe Hasan Nadwi at the Nadwatul Darul Uloom in Lucknow.

"I had quit the panel because of certain concerns, but I cannot turn down the request of the AIMPLB president."

"I will be attending the next meeting of the Babri panel in Delhi on June 21," he told reporters.

He flatly denied media reports about differences with certain members of the AIMPLB.

Kalbe Sadiq clarified that he stood by the AIMPLB resolution on Muslims abiding by the court order on the Ayodhya dispute.

He hailed Kanchi seer Jayendra Saraswati's efforts to arrive at a negotiated settlement on the Ayodhya issue, but insisted 'due care must be taken to consider the Muslim sentiment on the issue'.

Board chief Maulana Nadwi did not speak to the media.
