Vidisha Pavate has Prasad Bidappa to thank for her modelling career. Dusky and reed-slim, she was discovered by the Bangalore fashion icon at a party.
rediff.com asks her about her embarrassing moments on the ramp.
Boo-boo numbers 1, 2 and 3: Stumble, sari pleats coming undone, straps snapping.
What happens when such like calamities strike: Heart sinks, confidence level dips.
Memories of her first walk on the ramp: Bangalore, 1995. Had to wear a gown with a steel ring attached at the bottom. Was difficult to walk because her feet kept hitting the ring. Numbed by stage fright. Nervous about sharing the ramp with the likes of Marc Robinson, Svetlana Casper and Alison Kanugo.
The not-so-good things about being a model: Awful to know that you are being scrutinised constantly, that too in a superficial way.
And the good things: Travel without having to spend much money. Meeting people. And getting to wear the latest designs first!
Bollywood calling: Has been offered the stereotypical cop kinda roles. But prefers story-oriented, character-driven roles.
Verdict on the food during the IFW fitting schedule: Rice, curries dripping with oil, and rasugullas -- all of which are strictly a no-no diet for models in the run-up for a huge show!
