Brain fever toll goes up to 127 in AP

The toll in the brain fever epidemic in Andhra Pradesh rose to 127 on Friday evening, with eight more deaths reported in the last 24 hours.

State Health Minister Dr Kodela Sivaprasada Rao said the fresh deaths occurred in Warangal, Nellore and Adilabad districts, while one non-fatal case was reported in Rangareddy district on Friday.

Karimnagar topped the death roll with 45 deaths out of 69 cases and Warangal accounted for 42 deaths out of 86 cases. The toll in other districts included Nizamabad (10), Nalgonda (seven), Mahbubnagar (six), Adilabad, Medak and  Nellore (four each), Krishna (three) and Khammam (two).
