Justice S N Phukan, who is probing allegations of corruption in defence deals, on Monday said he will give a notice to Tehelka news portal and consider its views.
"I shall hear them in person if they cannot appoint a counsel. Or through a counsel; I shall hear and decide views or argument forwarded on behalf of Tehelka," he told the Star News channel.
Justice Phukan, who took charge on January 20, said it would be very difficult to say how long the probe would continue. The term was six months and it could be extended, he said.
Asked about re-recording of evidence, he said it was a hypothetical question. "I will open the hearing. I will give notice to all the parties and after that I will apply my mind and pass the judicial order to the best of my ability."
Tehelka had earlier said it would not "participate" in the investigations by the panel set up to probe corruption in defence deals.
