Jaish-e-Mohammed militant Shaukat Hussain Guru on Wednesday filed an appeal in the Delhi high court, challenging his conviction and death sentence in the December 13, 2001 Parliament attack case by a special Prevention of Terrorism Act court.

Admitting the appeal, a bench comprising Justice Usha Mehra and Justice Pradeep Nandrajog directed the prosecution to file a reply by February 3.

The appeals of Shaukat's wife, Navjot Sandhu alias Afsan Guru, and suspended lecturer S A R Geelani had been admitted by the high court last week.

Another JeM militant Mohammed Afzal, who was also convicted in the case, has not yet appealed against the sentence.
