Expressing confidence that the pace of talks with NSCN (I-M) leaders is expected to gather momentum in the coming days, Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani has said that the Centre is not considering appointment of a political interlocutor in the immediate future.

Talking to reporters accompanying him on his two-nation tour of Qatar and France, Advani said the fact that NSCN (I-M) leaders Isak Chisi Swu and Thuingaleng Muivah came to India and held discussions with various leaders was itself an important step forward.

The government appreciates it and the Naga leaders also realised the importance of the visit, he said.

Further talks would be held at the official level before Swu and Muivah leave India around January 24.

Something substantial might emerge only after the coming assembly elections, Advani said.
