Grenade attack in Kulgam, 21 hurt

An officer of the state police's special operations group and his son were killed in north Kashmir, while 21 civilians were wounded in a hand grenade explosion in Kulgam on Sunday afternoon.

Police sources in Srinagar said the militants, disguised as women, entered the house of Assistant Sub-Inspector Mushtaq Ahmad at Gunde Kaiser Bandipore and opened fire. Ahmad and his son Mudassir Mushtaq were killed while one Rameez Ahmad was injured.

In Kulgam militants hurled a grenade towards a police vehicle. However, the grenade exploded near a passenger bus resulting in injuries to 21 civilians, who were later taken to hospital.
