A three-member All India Congress Committee team arrived in Mumbai on Wednesday for a crucial Congress legislature party meeting, during which the fate of Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh will be decided.

The team, comprising Vayalar Ravi, Pranab Mukherjee and Ghulam Nabi Azad, is right now meeting party legislators at Sahyadri Guesthouse at Malabar Hills. The CLP meeting will be held in the evening.

Earlier, Azad said the delegation will meet Nationalist Congress Party leaders, Peasants and Workers' Party legislators and other Democratic Front constituents.

Deshmukh, who arrived at the guesthouse, said, "I am satisfied with my work. I have done good work for the state for the past three years."

The chief minister's supporters also arrived at the guesthouse and started shouting slogans.

The Congress' Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha, Shivraj Patil, is taking part in the deliberations. Asked if he is a chief ministerial candidate, he said, "No, I have come here to give my opinion."
