In a major breakthrough, five members of the Pakistan-based militant outfit Jamiat-ul-Mujahideen, including its financial controller, were arrested in Srinagar on Friday.

Police recovered a radio communication set and several weapons and ammunition from those arrested.

Union home ministry sources said those arrested included Ahmed Khan (financial controller), Abdul Rather, Mushtaq Ali Mir and Ghulam Mohammed Dar. They were nabbed from Dalgate in Srinagar.

The identity of the fifth is yet to be ascertained.

The arrests came after the interrogation of chief of the outfit, Gulzar Ahmed Bhat, who was arrested in Srinagar on January 29.

Bhat had taken over the JuM after the death of Khalid Dar, the sources said.
