A Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act court on Tuesday stayed till December 29 its order allowing the Special Investigating Team to conduct tests on nine accused in the fake stamp paper scam, including Abdul Karim Telgi.

The stay was granted by designated Judge S M Shembole on a plea made by three accused that they wanted to appeal against the court's order in the high court.

The SIT urged that it wanted to conduct these tests in the forensic laboratory at Bangalore. These tests are P300 Test, also known as 'Brain Finger Printing', 'Narco Analysis Test' and 'Lie Detector Test'.

The three accused -- Samajwadi Janata Party legislator Anil Gote, businessman Manoj Mehta and Ramchandra -- sought time to move the high court on the ground that these scientific tests raised some 'constitutional questions'.
