Pakistan Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali on Monday telephoned his India counterpart Atal Bihari Vajpayee from Paris and thanked him for confirming his attendance at the next month's South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation summit in Islamabad.

According to sources, Jamali told him that a "warm welcome" awaited him in Islamabad.

During the five-minute conversation, Vajpayee told Jamali he was looking forward to the visit, the sources said.

The leaders agreed that there had been positive bilateral developments over the past few weeks, including the ceasefire along the Line of Control.

They felt it was important that the positive trends were sustained, the sources said.

Vajpayee recalled that in their last conversation in April they had discussed the importance of people-to-people contact and economic cooperation and said progress had been made in these areas.

The PM expressed the hope that the SAARC summit would focus on progress in all aspects of regional economic cooperation.
