A preliminary report of the Maharashtra Forensic Lab on the nature of the explosives used in Monday's twin bomb blasts in Mumbai that left over 50 people dead and around 150 injured does not shed much light on the nature of the explosives used.

Mumbai blasts: The complete coverage

All it says is that the blast was of very high intensity.

The final report is likely yo be out by evening.

"Unlike the recent bomb explosions in the city, Monday's bombs were of very high intensity...they have created huge craters at both the places of explosion," Forensic Lab Director Dr Rukmini Krishnamurthy told PTI.

The CNG cylinders in the taxis in which the explosives were planted multiplied the impact of the blasts.

Director of the Central Forensic Lab Dr R S Verma is also in Mumbai to take a look at the evidence collected from the sites, Krishnamurthy said.
