Assailing the Congress-Nationalist Congress Party-led Democratic Front government in Maharashtra for its 'intelligence failure', the newly elected state unit chief of the BJP, Gopinath Munde on Monday demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the explosions that rocked Mumbai, claiming several lives.

"The frequent blasts in the metropolis have clearly exposed the intelligence failure of the state government. It should seek a CBI probe into the explosions," he said.

The Centre has always shared its intelligence network with the state government, but the Congress-led DF government has 'failed in gathering intelligence', Munde claimed.

Earlier, during his speech after he was declared the new president of the party's state unit, he lashed out at the state government for its 'ineffectiveness in checking the nefarious activities of the anti-national elements'.

The DF government has assumed the role of a 'mute spectator', and anti-national activities of SIMI, terrorist outfits and Pakistan's ISI were on the rise, the BJP leader alleged.

"The life of the common man is unsafe in Mumbai and there is no guarantee of the security," Munde said.

"Instead of dealing with the anti-national forces with an iron hand, during this government's regime, accused in bomb blasts are escaping from police custody and kingpin in the multi-crore stamp paper racket Abdul Karim Telgi is provided comforts of his posh home instead of being lodged in police custody," he alleged.

Coming down heavily on the DF regime for its 'failure' on all fronts, Munde said BJP along with its trusted ally Shiv Sena would make all efforts to dislodge the ruling dispensation.

Predicting that both Congress and NCP would contest next assembly elections jointly -- though both the parties are speaking against each other at present-- Munde said, "It will be a tough challenge before us. We will have to fight each and every seat with all might."

Munde said both Sena-BJP will bring a whiff of fresh air in the state by forming a government after the next election.
