The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam will vote with the National Democratic Alliance government against the Congress-sponsored no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha, party president M Karunanidhi announced on Sunday.

The decision was taken, he said, after consulting party MPs and DMK ministers in the Union cabinet.

"The DMK is very much in the NDA line up...how can one expect the party to oppose the NDA government?" Karunanidhi asked.

Karunanidhi's statement on Saturday that the party was yet to finalise its stand on the no-confidence motion had created confusion in the NDA circles.

The DMK is apparently unhappy with the NDA seeking its arch rival All India Anna Dravid Munnetra Kazhagam's help in tiding over the no-trust motion.

Karunanidhi said he did not foresee any problems for the Vajpayee government.
