Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday indicated that his government may challenge the acquittal of all the accused in the Best Bakery case.

"The 60 days (within which an appeal will b accepted) are not yet over. There are still 30 days left. Our advocate general is looking into the matter," he told reporters in Kancheepuram (Tamil Nadu) when asked what the Gujarat government was doing in the wake of the National Human Rights Commission approaching the Supreme Court for a retrial of the Best Bakery and four other cases.

He refused to comment on the NHRC's move saying the matter was sub-justice and that he respected each and every democratic institution of the country.

Modi was in Kancheepuram to meet Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati.

He refused to be drawn into the Ayodhya controversy.

"There are so many leaders attending to it," he remarked.
