The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Friday said the two terrorists involved in the attack on the Akshardham temple were members of Lashkar-E-Tayiba and not Tehrik-e-Kasas (outfit for revenge).

ATS Director Vipul Vijoy also told PTI in Ahmedabad that investigators had detected and identified a 'local contact' who reportedly conducted reconnaissance missions for the two terrorists in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.

"We have identified the contact, who operated from outside Ahmedabad, but his name cannot be revealed now," he said.

The slain terrorists, Mohammed Amjadbhai and Hafiz Yasir, were LeT members and this was verified by radio intercepts and other inputs in the custody of central intelligence agencies, he said.

"Militant outfits have a habit of changing names to suit the aim of their mission and convey a feeling of revenge through their acts," Vijoy said.

The ATS chief said investigations have revealed that the two brought weapons, hidden in their bedding, from Jammu and Kashmir by rail.
