Two cops abducted by People's War in AP

Naxalites of the People's War abducted two Andhra Pradesh policemen near Pedagarlapadu village in Dachepalli area of Guntur district on Friday.

Commandos belonging to Greyhounds [anti-Naxalite force] have launched operations to trace the two constables.

The two cops -- R Venkateshwarlu and K Venkateshwar Rao -- were returning after serving summons on some persons at Kesanpalli.

Guntur District Superintendent of Police Ravi Shankar Ayyanar, Additional Director General of Police B M Ramalingeswara Rao went to Guntur to take stock of the situation.

In another incident, four Naxalites of the Communist Party of India-Marxist/Leninist [Pratighatana group] were killed in an encounter with the police in Warangal district.

The incident occurred in the forest near Kodisala village in Tadwai mandal.

On a tip off that a group of Naxalites was camping in the area, a special police party rushed to the spot. The Naxalites opened fire on seeing the policemen. Four extremists, including two women, were killed on the spot, while three escaped.
