Few things accomplish ideas of fantasy and escapism in our movies like the sight of the hero and heroine canoodling in a field of mustard flowers.

From rendering a dreamy aura to onscreen romance to underlining a distinctly 'mera gaon mera desh' sentiment, especially when describing Punjab, the quintessential 'sarson' enjoys a poetic place in Bollywood imagery.

Recently we caught a glimpse of Janhvi Kapoor prancing in the fields while filming Anand L Rai's Good Luck Jerry in Punjab.

Going by the backdrop of this on-the-sets capture of Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor's Lal Singh Chaddha, one can be sure to catch a peek of the same in the Forrest Gump remake.

Sukanya Verma looks at mustard field memories of Bollywood.

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge

Raj and Simran's romantic reunion in the yellow fields as they confess Tujhe Dekha Toh Yeh Jaana Sanam is engraved in the history of Hindi movies.

If the flowers lend their affection a tender touch in the song, they duly embody Simran's father's love for his motherland in his yearning to return home and feed the local pigeons.

Dil Bole Hadippa

Rani Mukerji running across a gorgeous bounty of mustard flowers is just the sort of attractive image Instagram addicts live to post.

Veer Zaara

Yash Chopra's love for all things Punjab, pretty and pyaar find a joyous expression when Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta exchange notes over their respective 'des' in this scene of his cross-border love story.

Rang De Basanti

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra serves powerful ideas of young rebellion and pays rich ode to its title as Aamir Khan, Siddharth, Sharman Joshi, Kunal Kapoor and Atul Kulkarni come together in the fields of gold.

Karan Arjun

A pre-reincarnation Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan dote on mommy Raakhee against the flowery fields whilst crooning Yeh Bandhan Toh Pyar Ka Bandhan Hai.

Aa Ab Laut Chalein

Doesn't a generic love scene look way better if you throw in a vast mustard field?

Hello Brother

Keeping with Bollywood's tradition of color coordinated jhatkas matkas.

Biwi No 1

If not an entire field even a small patch of flowers will do so long the hero and heroine can Chunari Chunari to its beats.

Dhadkan

Bollywood honeymoons are all about serenading your ladylove and making her dream of strolling a field of flowers like a Yash Chopra heroine come true.

Andaaz

Here are all the things one can do in a field of sarso. Spin like Priyanka Chopra.

Krrish

Hop like Hrithik Roshan.

Ramaiya Vastavaiya

Channel your inner Shakira like Jacqueline Fernandez.

Besharam

Or pee like Ranbir Kapoor while humming Tujhe Dekha Toh Yeh Jaana? No wonder it's the worst movie of the actor's career.

Mausam

We suggest you soak in the magnificent sight like a serene Sonam Kapoor in Mausam.
